Gillian Carnegie

rsXXII-/8-7  Oil paint on hardboard  2007 – 230 x 331 x 24 mm

Gillian Carnegie’s work I found interesting in the way that she uses paint, I found her figurative work quite inspirational, mainly her paintings of the bum, The way that the paint gives a tightness due to the fact the figure has been kind of carved out of the background with the brush strokes of the paint. I like the way that the paint has been used where it hasn’t been blended perfectly you can see the change in tonal range and the way she has used the paintbrush in different directions.
