Victor Willing

Standing Nude 1952–3

When looking at Victor Willing’s work the pieces that stand out to me most is his figurative work such as ‘Standing Nude’ as you can see the slight measurement lines and the face is kind of blurred out which makes you wonder did he leave it out on purpose as he has added in background items but also the body is slightly blurred out such as the hands so it makes the figure kind of blur into the background. You can see the brush strokes quite clearly in ‘standing nude’ which adds to the blurring of the figure but it also gives less of a methodical feel and makes you think that maybe he did this piece in a short time rather than making the lines clean and sharp
