I found Pierre Bonnard’s use of colour and texture in his paintings to be quite compelling in the way that you can see most of his brush strokes and the way that this indicates a sense of movement throughout the painting that makes the viewers eye move across the painting in a certain way. The fact that the nude figure is actually quite dark contrasting against the quite bright yellow and blue background is engaging and makes you wonder why the artist has chosen to do this.
