Sophie Calle

Blind #14 – 1986 – Gelatin silver print, two chromogenic prints, and text panel (photographs)

Sophie Calle’s photograph such as Blind #14 are fascinating due to the way that it is part of a series called Blind where she asked people who were born blind what their perception of beauty was and then photographed this to show what they perceive as beauty without actually seeing anything. I find the photographs to be quite powerful and make you think about how growing up you are shaped into seeing what is beauty ad how unreachable it can be and question about what you perceive as beauty and how we should look at things differently.
